Gender selection by so-called Sex Selection Kits or the Shettles, Whelan, or Ericsson methods are not scientifically proven. With these unproven methods, you have as good a chance to achieve the gender of your choice as without using these options.

Though final results of the MicroSoft® trial have not been published, and FDA approval has not been granted yet, based on published data, the technique appears to works. It improves the chances for conceiving a female, based on the most recent reports, to approximately 90%, while the chances for successful male sorting are a little lower at approximately 85%. However, MicroSort® is currently not available for routine selective use since FDA approval is pending.

By far, the most accurate gender selection method is IVF with PGD. In contrast to the other methods, it will result in the gender of your choice in nearly 100% of cases.
